Mission Statement

The mission of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture Information Technology Services Unit (UTIA-IT) is to provide effective institute-wide computing and information technology services in support of the mission and strategic goals of all units of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA). To this end, UTIA-IT carries out research and develops, delivers and facilitates the use of information technology services and resources. UTIA-IT provides primary, institute-wide, shared resources of computing hardware, software and professional personnel.

The responsibilities of UTIA-IT extend across all four units of the Institute of Agriculture. Technology functions that are identified as critical by all units will be centrally administered by UTIA-IT. Technology needs specific to individual units and/or departments will be administered by that unit/department. UTIA-IT, units and departments, however, will collaborate in developing and maintaining the highest quality services. UTIA-IT will also collaborate with regional Extension IT staff to insure quality services are provided to staff state-wide.
